No I really did pick up a Jackson gamer. He plays in the Rangers minor league system.

Default Crosley Field Night Sticks

Just picked up two wonderful 1930s Cincinnati Reds game used bats. The players are Billy Myers and Babe Herman. Most folks might say, nice... not thrilling but nice. For my collection these are rather significant in that Myers collected the first base hit in a major league night game and also scored the first run (24 May 1935; Crosley Field). Babe Herman hit the first home run during a major league night game (10 July 1935; Crosley Field).

Peter:
Thanks

Gary:
Early to mid 1890s time-frame. Another net54 member PM'd me, stating he'd seen this very Pairpoint item featured on an 1894 Silver Catalogue. Still searching for that catalogue image, but safe to say the timing is correct.

As to scarcity, it's pretty darned rare. There was one in REA about 7-8 years ago, and Hunts has perhaps had one or two. There was another on ebay roughly 4 years ago, but the seller wanted 2 - 3 times its actual worth, and I doubt it ever sold. The only other one I've seen had an arm that was broken off, but it still sold for close to 4 figures.

It's worth noting that the same pillbox-hatted figural player was also featured on a few other Pairpoint Silver pieces of the era. I actually have the matching Thermometer, and have also seen this figural atop an ornate 1890s Baseball Trophy. So it's a very nice piece to pick up, if you're into this type of thing...

Thanks Mike

I didn't "Brock" it.... but got a pretty decent buy.

Where the hell has Brock been anyway? I miss his posts and outrageous deals.

Bob and Mark those are beautiful items

It's unlikely I ill ever own a 1971 World Series ring but I will settle for this tie and cufflink set awarded to Pirate players and front office staff. I also picked up my first photo in quite awhile. I just thought it was a cool 1948 opening day Joe D. image. He is one of the few players who could make a slide look like a posed shot. Not a hair out of place...Joe D. was the epitome of 1940s cool.

Congrats Mark! And at a pretty fair price I may add. It went for less than the one I consigned to Hunts a few years back.

LOVE that shot of DiMaggio, Mike! That sweeping motion of the slide from left to right is absolutely killer.
