With so many new ballparks that have opened in recent years, and with at least one more to open in the near future (Atlanta in 2017), you don't have to be an "old timer" to have attended a game in a park that no longer stands.

Jealous, I wish I had a first hand sense of what those three parks and baseball was like in NY. I'm currently reading this book

It's very good and not sympathetic to Robert Moses. It's almost made out that he was indifferent to the Dodgers and Giants possibly moving. If they stayed it was going to be on his terms.

Default Three Stadiums

1. Candlestick Park.......home of my Giants.....attended there with my Grandfather from boyhood in the mid-1960's to 1994 (last game with Grandfather and my son together in 1993 on a trip out to visit him.)

2. Three Rivers Stadium......1992 National League Championship Series
Was working in Gettysburg,PA and was able to snag a ticket. Saw future Giant Barry Bonds play in person for the first time and my former high school history student Pitcher Doug Drabek. Then drove to Cooperstown the next day to spend the weekend at the Hall.

3. Astrodome.......moved to Texas in 1972.....saw many a game at the old "coldest foam in the dome".

I have a great collection of photos , programs, etc and wonderful memories of these parks.

Great thread! Mike

Shea Stadium
Joe Robbie/Pro Player/Dolphins/Sun Life Stadium there (unless the A's make the World Series) will never be a full 70000 plus stadium again for the world series. I remember 2003 against the Yankees which was a scene that can never be copied again

I have seen games in 47 parks so far - 27 of the 30 current parks (all but Minnesota, Oakland and Tampa) and these 20 older parks listed below. I basically grew up in Old Comiskey and always loved Tiger Stadium too. My favorite current ballparks are Fenway, Philly, San Francisco and Colorado.

Comiskey Park – Chicago
Old Busch Stadium – St. Louis
Arlington Stadium – Texas
Old Yankee Stadium – NYY
County Stadium – Milwaukee
Candlestick Park – San Fran
Jack Murphy Stadium – San Diego
Astrodome – Houston
Fulton County Stadium – Atlanta
Pro Player Stadium – Miami
Shea Stadium – NYM
Olympic Stadium – Montreal
Metrodome – Minnesota
Tiger Stadium – Detroit
Veterans Stadium – Philly
Three Rivers Stadium – Pitt
Riverfront Stadium – Cincy
RFK Stadium – Washington
Cleveland Municipal Stadium
Hiram Bithorn Stadium – San Juan, Puerto Rico

Comiskey Park – Chicago
Arlington Stadium – Texas
Astrodome – Houston
Fulton County Stadium – Atlanta
Tiger Stadium – Detroit
Kingdom - Seattle
Memorial Stadium - Baltimore

I just checked and the first stadium I ever went to, Oakland Coliseum in 1968, is still around ... surprisingly.

I've only been to 2 major league games since 1994 (yeah, I'm still boycotting because of the strike - I'll have them on their knees soon ) and they were both in Houston. Tickets were given to me.

I kept skimming past this thread thinking I didn't have any. Of course when I thought about it for a split second I realized I was wrong.

Yankee Stadium 1 - Visited at the end of 2008 Season as a gift from my father
Jack Murphy Stadium - Born in SanDiego, my parents said my first games were the Padres, but I don't recall them at all.
Busch Memorial Stadium - Live in the St. Louis Area so I was a regular visitor

What if you have been to more parks that have been torn down than parks that are still in use?

Wait....didn't they just build one in Atlanta 20 years ago? A perfect example of why having the Olympics in your city is such a disaster.
