Hi Raymond, if you look at the picture, there is a big orange stamp book towards two or three cards over from the 52 Topps. The 55 Bowman is touching the bottom of that booklet. It is a bit difficult to see as there is a little glare off the case. Would love to see your collection.

I see it now...cool...also, there is a 1969 Diego Segui showing...what's up with that?

Do you also collect the newer 'tribute-type' cards of Mantle or just the vintage?

The 1969 is a miscut and pictures part of Mantle's bat in the very lower portion, so it made its way in. Right now, just the career contemporary cards. I do have a couple of others but am not actively pursuing anything past 1969.

I'd like to see a better shot of your 53 topps. been actively pursuing this card for about 5 years and still haven't found my whale...

it's a toughie between centering and the lower left corner retaining it's red color.

The 53 Topps is definitely a tough one to find with decent centering. As you can tell from the picture, mine suffers the same flaws as many of them. I am a lower grade collector and don't mind a lot of honest wear.

I still think it's as gorgeous as can be! and definitely a rarer "oc" version than what I have ever seen.

and just realized that 66 was an opc and very well centered!

edited on the 53: it's also exhibits that lower left hand corner wear that I was referring to. I don't know if its just me, but for some reason that corner always seems to endure the most wear or more wear in comparison to the other 3.

honestly cant think of another card that this "theory" applies more....

I concur and every time I see a nicely centered 53T Mick in grade 5 or below I just have to buy it. Actually that goes for every Mick base card and most others! These two 53s are as nicely centered as I can find. The top example has a pretty solid red corner. The bottom one has better corners but the usual corner wear (some top border is obscured by the inner holder ridge but the centering is money).

Chris, really nice Mantle collection. I'm curious - should I be able to see a 1953-54 Briggs Meats card of Mantle in the picture?
