I'm going to agree with tazmd and sycks22 on #10. I think it is Vizquel. I never got him IP so I had nothing to compare to, but looking at a few online compared to Strawberry I got IP I am inclined to agree.
Strawberry's sig is similar, but his "D" is pretty consistent and doesn't match #10 as posted or upside down, nor are there as many loops overall. It does more closely match Omar, so I've changed my original consolidated list. |

I've gotten both guys IP several times, it's definitely the Straw-Man.
Below, the left is the OP's pic, next to another Strawberry that I turned upside down. Notice the similar strokes at the beginning, middle and end. Also, the hash mark to signify crossing the "t" in Strawberry placed in the top loop of the "S". If anything, the OP's is a little more of a rushed IP signature, while the one on the right is a sit-down signing. Next are both of those images turned rightside up, followed by an image of Vizquel's signature. Vizquel's "O" is always consistent and really doesn't look at all like the "D" in the OP's post when compared side by side. He finished his "O" on a downward stroke, which isn't the case in the OP's pic, upside down or not. There is also no break between the two big loops in his last name in this example or any other in my collection. Unless the pen jumped, he was pretty consistent in joining those loops to form his last name. ![]() ![]() Strawberry did go to more rounded "D" in the 90s when he was with LA, though I don't have an example handy. I originally thought it was Vizquel, but I am going to go back to Strawberry based on the evidence, especially the "O" in Vizquel is different.
All that being said, it is amazing coincidence how similar they are. I curious what PSA would say if you sent the ball in claiming to be Omar, I am sure they would take one second to look, slab it and call it a day. Here is my Vizquel IP and it is just like Derek's. I have Strawberry IP also, but not worthy enough to put in my online library. ![]() Last edited by tazdmb; 03-13-2015 at 12:23 PM. |
