52 Mantle PSA 6 sold for $65k plus yesterday in heritage auctions.
52 Topps Mantle PSA 7's have been selling for $100k plus recently. Mantle's are roaring! |

yes, watched that one as well. according to vcp, I think that's the new record for a six. but well deserved as it was a gorgeously centered version!

Heirtage does have some good ones..the SGC 60/5 is still nice at about less than half that. But did you notice the nice SGC 70/5.5 coming up in late April --the borders on it are very clean, almost bleached white. Almost every auction has a 311 somewhere.

I thought the Heritage 6 had gorgeous borders and great color, certainly accurately graded and fantastic overall eye appeal. Definitely a beauty. That said, it was just a hair off both ways in the centering department for my eye. When plunking down that much loot on a card, I just have to have dead nuts centering. Granted, for the collector really wanting a pretty example now, there's no guarantee perfect centering shows up.
Goodwin's "3" is already off to the races as well, at 13k+ overall and it just started. Last edited by MattyC; 02-22-2015 at 02:06 PM. |

This card is the ultimate representation of supply and demand, it is the only sports card with this much widespread allure (Wagner doesn't count because it is not readily accessible), and truly the only sports card that I think classifies as a legitimate commodity/investment (in any condition) that one would definitely expect to profit on over time. Non-collectors are buying these as part of investment portfolios. The value of these cards should continue to rise indefinitely in the future. There will never be enough of them to meet the demand.

Should have bought one and put in my Roth IRA when I set it up in 1996. Would have done better than my Cisco stocked that tanked when the tech bubble burst in 2000!
