Jerome,

You nailed it in your explanation. I've always known JJ was not in the 211s, but I never knew the why. You make a lot of sense. One can dream, though, that someday one of the other 39 might surface, even as a proof, in the 211 set. Then you would see some serious searches for more examples. In the meantime, I will keep looking to complete the known set. I am getting there, one card at a time. Only 60 more to go.

Jason, sorry to off track your thread, but these 210/211s just fascinate me. And of course, I started my 210 collection with series 8. Many more of those to go.

-- Mike - Some nice poses in here. There is one card that caught my eye... Can you post a single scan of Hicks from Series 7? It appears the name and team missed the runway!

Raymond, That is Long for Columbus.

Jeremy....I will post a better scan of Hicks as soon as I get a chance....

Lesson learned ...with the size limitations here on 54, two rows of 4 is about max for the scans.

Mike,
That is the first T210 I have ever seen where they misfired the name and team on the wrong spot. That is off by a lot and that makes it special.

Thnx for sharing, J

Default McGilvray

I hope someone here got the McGilvray from the B&L auction tonight. That is one tough card, and you beat me out fair and square. On a similar note, I picked up and Emery (Birmingham) off e-bay randomly tonight. I'll post a scan when it comes in. Man, my emotions are all over the place, I was so bummed to miss the McGilvray, then an Emery falls in my lap. That's card collecting, right there!

Ed - Going for the t211 set is awesome. There have only been a scant few put together. I got to about 50 or so and gave up the ghost. The T210-8's have kept me on course though as there is so much history there. The Southern Association was littered with Big League ball players. It really was a high quality of ball and players back in the day.

Some of them should look familiar. You and Jeremy have been chief sources for a good chunk of them.....

To stay on T210 topic, first off is Jim Fox of Columbus. Quite an unassuming fellow, the first baseman and manager. He managed Columbus from 1909-15. The team was then called the "Foxes." It was called the Foxes until 1930. Even when Columbus (Red Stixx) lost there team about 10 years ago, they still had a little fox emblem on their sleeve. Way to go, Jim !!!!

Second up is T211 Red Sun "sister" boxing series, T226. The back also indicates a "First Series" (and a great misspelling). The images match up (not all, but grand majority) to T218, which there are 62 boxers. I could go on, but main point is there was a most expected "Second Series."

- Scott - That is great evidence right there and to me provides enough proof, there was going to be that 2nd series of T211's. To confirm... of the 30 Red Sun Boxers, do all 30 reside with same pose in that T218 set? Also, have you spotted any trend with the 2nd batch of T218's? Do those next 32 Boxers come from a different time period(Realizing these were printed as one set, but curious about the 32 boxers not included in T211 set... Which set came first?) I wonder if we analyzed the history of those 32 boxers, would there be some identifier from one of the cards where by it had to have been printed at a later date. (Example from Lipset : T211's include certain SLers due to time period they played, etc. (T211's were released in early 1910) ---- Great info... Would love to see the back of the T218. Do we know when the T218's were printed and distributed as well as the Red Sun boxers?
