The Milwaukee Brewers had the best power hitting team in baseball in the late 70s through the early 80s. Between 1978 and 1982, no team in baseball hit more home runs than the Brewers (873; Baltimore was #2 with 758), scored more runs than the Brewers (3,806; Boston was #2 with 3,666), and only the Baltimore Orioles (445-304) had a better record than the Milwaukee Brewers (431-325) in all the Major Leagues. The Brewers had the best Pythagorean winning percentage of all teams in the Majors (.575; the Orioles, Dodgers and Yankees tied for second best at .563). This only enhances my misery as a Brewers fan, knowing we had the best team in baseball for those years, yet no World Series titles to show for it.
And the nicknames for these teams? Between 1978 and 1980, George Bamburger was the manager. And the nickname was "Bambi's Bombers". From the second half of 1980 through 1981, Buck Rodgers was our manager. In 1981, when Harvey Kuenn took over the team, and led our team to the World Series, the offense was known as "Harvey's Wallbangers". Those two would make for interesting choices.

Scott- That's a great Tiger tribute!
I can't believe nobody has mention 'The Bronx Bombers' and how 'bout The Blake Street Bombers? ...and if a pair is a group? Dizzy & Daffy
