It is from a stint at the Pantages Theater in Minneapolis. It opened in 1916 and is still in use today.
Gibbons was from St. Paul, so doing an event at a venue across the river wouldn't have been unusual. While he didn't make much from the 1923 title fight with Jack Dempsey, he did pretty well with the vaudeville shows.

I stand corrected then. The Pathe News reference on top of all the European sounding supporting acts led me to believe it was UK based. |

Here is a little more info on Gibbons' show at the Pantages:

I guess the poster isn't necessarily from the Minneapolis location. It looks like Pantages had a pretty big circuit around this time. This is the schedule for a 1921 Pantages tour

Been working on a set of PCs from D & K Enterprises in SF, ca. 1905, relating to the Britt-Nelson bouts.
![]() ![]() That last one made it to Belgium in 1905 and somehow survived and returned to the USA, where I own it 110 years later. Where will it be 110 years from now, I wonder? I am reasonably certain I will be sprinkled all around the Kona coast by then... Also had a fun snag with this Sharkey RPPC; signed on back:

Adam,
Amazing esoteric stuff - where do you get these and how are you able to build a collection around such a specific event? Very cool. ![]() Hey, when's the next soapbox entry? I always enjoy them. |

That is a beauty! The T9 Johnson is one of my all-time favorite boxing cards.

I think we have the same taste but mine is not near as nice, but I do love the patina.
