Default 7 wins and a tie

7-8-1 = NFC South Champs

I didn't think Carolina was the one of the "Terrible Trio" teams that would make the playoffs, but I guess their road wins and being the team who sucked less at the end of the regular season brought them an extra game.

Anything can happen in the playoffs, but this has been a pretty fun NFL season.

It's a hard game to figure out sometimes, as I mentioned, I'm glad I am no longer betting on NFL games!!

Now it's time to root the Seattle Seahawks into the Super Bowl again...

Black Monday indeed: That 34-3 drubbing probably cost Mike Smith his job, but the Falcons needed a new direction.

As for other coaching openings: I did not think Rex deserved to get sacked because Idzik was simply not GM material. Had Rex been elevated to GM two years ago for the Jets it may have ended differently. He'll find a great job and soon.

Trestman, I didn't understand that hire two years ago, and unfortunately his lackluster teams performance will probably hinder future coaching candidates from the CFL getting NFL jobs. Rex would be a great hire to restore the Monsters of Midway defense.

Ty- What simply amazes me is how in the hell Dimitroff was able to keep his job. He's the idiot that has been the most responsible for the players on the Falcons' roster. Mike Smith was simply the guy that fell on the sword....

In part I agree, the Falcons have one of the best offenses in the NFC in my opinion, but could use a more consistent running game. They've been decimated by injuries to key weapons for a couple years.

The defensive side of the ball is a completely different story. When Kroy Bierman is your teams sack leader with 4.5 in a season your really not putting pressure on the opposing quarterback. Dimitroff's negligence to that side of the ball may have been reason enough for dismissal. However, usually GM's are "married" to their choices at coach, but not the case with the Falcons as Smith took over after Petrino's bizarre departure. I think Dimitroff was hired as GM in mid January 2008, and Smith was hired as a head coach only a week later.

Carolina is favored! A victory would bring them to Seattle. I'm holding out for either Green Bay or Dallas in the NFC championship, but if anyone is in town for a game, t.v. viewing or otherwise, send me an email - Seahawk games are best when watched in Seattle around lots of fans.

Uh......no.

I despise Cam and his Superman routine....that said, they could make some noise.

I just want to congratulate all the forum gamblers who took my advice and used me as a negative barometer for bet-placing.

I'm picking the Packers and Seahawks in the NFC Championship, so the smart money will not be placed on both of these teams.

Go Cowboys.
