I only collect autographs, here is mine.
Get up to the mid 90's Perez Steele HOF set (at 87 now). Have over 3000 different hockey players autograph (at 2300 now). Have over 2000 different baseball players autograph (just over 1200 now). Have over 1000 different football players autograph (just over 300 now). Add at least another 100 more Montreal Expos autographs on something where they are pictured in the uniform (have around half of all the players now). Continue to work on getting all the 80's O-Pee-Chee hockey sets autographed with the goal of having at least 60% of them all done. |

My collecting goal for 2015 is the same as it has been for the past few years - i.e., to add to my collections of type cards, Walter Johnson cards, Sam Rice cards, and cards of all the other players on the 1924 Washington Senators Championship team.
Not being a traditional set collector, the only realistic chance I have of experiencing the euphoria of completing or nearly completing a "set" is with the Sam Rice cards (because too many type cards and WaJo cards are beyond my collecting budget). Although my OCD collecting disease requires that I strive for an example of every variation of every Sam Rice card (a "master" set), if I exclude the variations, to the best of my knowledge, I need only the following Sam Rice cards which are known to exist (either they are in the PSA/SGC pop reports or I know someone who has one) to achieve a "basic" set: 1917 Standard Biscuit (D350-2) 1925 Universal Toy & Novelty (W504) (hello Brian!) 1928 Harrington's Ice Cream (F50) 1931 Strip card (W502) In addition, there may be Sam Rice examples in existence from the following card sets, however there are none listed in the PSA/SGC pop reports, nor have I ever seen any of these: 1917 Merchants Bakery 1921 Standard Biscuit (D350-3) 1921 Clark's Bread 1921 Queen City Cigar Store 1922 Strip card (W573) 1922 Haffner's Bread 1922 Lou Gertenrich I'll be grateful for any help with any of these Sam Rice cards. Also, I'm looking to upgrade my poor example of Rice's 1917 Boston Store (H801-8) card. Good luck to everyone with their collecting goals for 2015! Val |

Hey Brian,
That really is a gorgeous example of Sam Rice's W504 card! If you ever get the urge to do one act of kindness for me, just amend your will to bequeath this card to me in the unlikely event (because I am age 71) that your demise precedes mine (not that I would be rooting for this, of course)! ![]() Best, Val |

My goals from the 2014 thread:
1. Continue to develop and maintain a relaxed pace on all my collecting projects. I was ok the first half of the year, but became a bit too obsessed in the second half of the year. 2. 50's, 60's, 70's topps/bowman hofer run - acquire all the "easy" ones. down to 3 easy ones needed http://net54baseball.com/showthread....72#post1359272 3. Dabble with my t206 set - less than 10 left on my list to upgrade, pick up a few more less common backs to sprinkle into the mix. Check. down to 3 on my condition upgrade list, also picked up maybe a couple dozen less common backs and cards with backstamps or other interesting marks 4. Reach 100 different pre-war types. Check. Should receive a W502 Combs today to make it 100 different pre-war types 5. add to my e-card, t210, and t212 subsets. Picked up 8 e-cards from my want list. I'm down to 5 needed for my target subset now. I've pretty much decided to abandon my t210 and t212 subsets for now. I don't believe I added any from either this year. My 2015 goals: 1. Develop and maintain a relaxed pace on all my collecting projects. 2. Continue to upgrade my t206 set by adding less common backs and cards with backstamps or other interesting period writing or marks. 3. Add a few cards from some of my favorite 30's sets to my pre-war type collection. 4. pick up two or three of the tougher cards from my post war topps/bowman regular issue hof run 48 thru 79. Still need five 52's, six 51topps, and these: http://net54baseball.com/showthread.php?t=198147 Happy Holidays Everyone! Last edited by tonyo; 12-27-2014 at 11:16 AM. |

trying to save up enough collecting cash to purchase a t206 ty cobb bat off psa 1.5 or 2. hoping to reach this goal by the national because i want to make the purchase in person just to make sure i really love the card.
the only issue reaching this goal is not buying too many other cards while in the process of this goal ![]() -adam |

My primary goal for 2014 was to finish (or at least make further progress on) my 1947 Jackie Robinson Bond Bread set.
Other goals included picking up a Jackie Robinson auto, and to finally dive into the Pre-War arena. Mission (almost) accomplished. I picked up the last super tough Jackie Robinson Bond Bread thanks to the help of Greg S. and Jason E., and I now only need the more readily available Portrait - Facsimile Signature. I also picked up a t206 Mathewson dark cap to finally start my Pre-War collection. I didn't get a Robinson auto, so that will have to wait. 2015 Goals 1) Finish the 1947 Jackie Robinson Bond Bread set (There's a Portrait Facsimile Sig. on eBay right now, but I will wait for a nicer example) 2) Add 1-2 of the following key cards to my collection a) 1933 Goudey Lou Gehrig b) 1954 Topps Hank Aaron c) 1921 e121 Babe Ruth (Follow Through / Throwing) d) t206 Ty Cobb Bat Off e) 1951 Bowman Mickey Mantle 3) Continue to build my Pre-War collection

#2 - Picked up a 1954 Topps Hank Aaron. I also picked up a t206 Ty Cobb Green. Not the Bat Off I originally stated, but I love it just the same #3 - Got a t206 Green Cobb as stated - nothing else pre-war wise. That will be part of my 2016 goals.

In 2014 I set two goals for myself. I completed just one of the two. First goal was to complete half of my 1934 Goudey set. As you all know it's my main focus in my collection. I have hit the half way point only by a few but I'm on the down slope of the set now. I really should say the more expensive side of the set.
The second goal I had set was to pick up the #37 Lou Gehrig. I came close a few times but never pulled the trigger. It's the one of the priciest cards in the set and a very sought after card in the hobby. The "white whale" will have to be caught another time. Goals I have set for myself next year are the following. 1. Get to the 75 card mark in my 1934 Goudey Set 2. Grow my T202 set to 15 cards (At 2 currently) above the grade of 3 3. Start the T201 set 4. Complete 12 transactions on Net54 I have set 4 goals I feel are obtainable but still long year ahead. I hope to complete them all but will have to wait and see. The one I hope to break more than anything is #4. Really like to get more involved with people on this site. Those are mine guys, now lets here some more from you guys.

I had a great 2014, got more and better cards than I could have ever hoped.
2015 I'm going to try to take a year off as much as I can. 3 or 4 mid range cards at most. 1-T205 Hof 1-N172 (Omaha team set) 1- CUBS Hof 1- what ever happens or catches my eye |

Goals (I hope to stay in this order)
1) Finish the process of organizing and scanning what I have 2) Finally sell/trade all the stuff in the sale box- this will make my wife happy as she is sick of me having it out in the open as a reminder that I need to sell/trade what's in it. 3) Reach the following milestones for my HOF collections: 85% Baseball (+20 cards), 70% Hockey (+65 cards), 90% Football (+62 cards) & finally organize my golf HOF collection so I even know what I have % wise 4) Slow down the Monster pursuit but get to 50% (+27 cards) 5) Pick away at my Cope's Golfers set 6) Pick up another 15 PSA 10 Martin Brodeur Cards 7) Stay focused on the list above

Hopefully 2015 will bring a close to a couple T210 subsets I'm very close on. Other than those two, steady progress on the rest of my collection would be nice as well. Good luck to everyone in the new year!

My goal for 2014 was to sell a bunch of misc stuff to fund pursuit of The Monster - I did pretty well - thanks to all the members that bought from me on BST last year, my MN is at 509.
2015 goals: 1. Continue to downsize collection - especially books, publications and newspapers. I might set up at The National and try to unload a couple hundred pieces. 2. Peck away at The Monster - adding 4 or 5 in 2015 would be good. 3. Continue pursuit of a Magie - gotta get those 80 points. 4. Continue opportunistic buying of Cobb, Banks, Shoeless, Jackie, Satchel when the price is right. 5. Win Cave's fantasy baseball league again - highly unlikely given tough competition.

plan of still working on my 1921 World Series E121 Yankees/Giants team sets. Made huge progress this year and cards are getting hard to find. Also will be working on a complete set of 1923 W572 cards. Am about 15 cards from finishing. And finally looking for a reasonably priced T207 Ward Miller to finish off my T207 Cubs. These are my Prewar goals.
as to Postwar cards, will pick up the Topps Cubs cards as they come out including the updates and maintaining my complete run of Topps Cubs from 1951 to current. Hopefully I can add the 2015 Topps World Series championship Cubs :-)

2014 Goals:
(1) Continue to prune back collection and focus more on tough Ruth cards. - Check (added about 20 cards or variations) (2) Continue to make progress on small sets (W519-1, W521, W590, Baguer) - Check somewhat (added two W519-1, three W521, three W590, one Baguer) 2015 Goals: Basically the same as last year. (1) Continue to prune back collection and focus more on tough Ruth cards, trying to obtain 1-2 "big" cards. (2) Continue to make progress on small sets (W519-1, W519-2, W521, W590, Baguer) Last edited by glchen; 01-04-2015 at 02:58 PM. |

I went crazy in 2014 and finished my SGC registry 1935 National Chicle football set, picked up a 1952 Mantle, and a Sporting News Shoeless Joe among others. Also started my T205 and 1933 Goudey sets. Found out that is a lot to bite off. Slowing down for now on 1933 Goudey now that I have 2 of the Ruth's and am about 40% done.
Goals for 2015: 1. Get to 75% on T205 set. 2. Pick up a few Mordecai Brown cards 3. T206 cards of Joss (pitching pose) and Lajoie 4. (Unlikely) 1915 Cracker Jack Lajoie 5. I will get sidetracked...I always do. T205 project was a sidetrack Meet more great people here on Net54. Truly a great group of collectors. Privileged to be a part of it
