I sort of feel bad for the seller, I reached out to him to tell him about the operation bullpen and he said his dad bought this autograph in 1999 and has since passed away and that he always assumed it was real because it was "certified". He was selling it to buy presents for Christmas. I sent him the link for youtube video about "operation bullpen" that HBO did. He asked me where to get authenticated and I pointed him in the direction of PSA "quick opinion" for a start. I didnt tell him that his autograph was fake or real just didnt want him to sell it to someone and they send it off to be rejected then demand money back long after he had spent it. He pulled item from EBAY a short time ever. I believe he really didnt know from the emails he sent. Most of the sellers know but dont care it seems.. I do remember the late 90's how many donald fragpani COA's were out there on high dollar items. Was not uncommon from what I remember to see several Ruth bats and gloves and balls authenticated by him! Feel for all the people who lost money that still have no idea that what they have is forged that think they can sell for $$ if they really need money.

I'm glad someone reached out to him and was able to help this seller out.

Felt bad and he really seemed sincere with his responce, but like I said its better he know now than after some buyer spends 500 to 1000 bucks on it sends it to PSA and gets rejected a month later long after he had spent the cristmas money and now being asked to refund spent money.

It already has the Frangipani cert. If they bought it, then they must believe the cert is good, so no sending to PSA.

I think these autographs go round and round for a long time before someone finally gets burned. Until then they are as good as cash.

But to the sellers defence he did the right thing, after watching the youtube video about operation bullpen he instantly pulled item and sent me an email about how to get the item to a honest TPA. 9 times out of 10 sellers are only about the cash in their hands this one was not. Seemed more upset about his deceased father getting burned on the item. cant blame him, there are guys like frangpini and the bogus autographs from guys who forged them dont think about the pain they cause people or they have no soul and just dont even care.

True. I just meant that if the auction had gone to completion, the buyer would not have sent it to PSA. It is unfortunate that the owner will eat even more money by sending it to PSA when there is no need. I guess it will give him closure?

Well, he could add insult to injury by using the quick opinion for 10 bucks....but if you direct him to this thread, maybe he will read these words.....

First, I am sorry about your father. I hope you have a Merry Christmas and make a toast to him for all the good he did.

IMHO, I HAVE NEVER SEEN AN AUTHENTIC SIGNATURE OF ANY KIND AUTHENTICATED BY THE DONALD FRYINPANGIANNNNNI> NONE ZERO NADA ZIP in over 10 years. There may be one, but I have yet to see it. That's not how the scam works. Save your 10 bucks and spend it on the kids.
