It's really amazing that collector's have been collecting these types sets for about 75+ years now and several of those are not complete by now. (I know of one Gent who is collecting dozens of these sets, but isn't finished on any of them and has been at it for 30+ years) There are a lot of sets in this thread and I am sure many more not mentioned. Also, pretty neat that there are a handful that are oh so close.
Has anyone finished a T209 set?

M101-4/5 (I know of a few complete Blank Back and Sporting News, one Famous & Barr, but im not sure any of the other backs have been completed, a near set missing 4 cards of Herpolsheimer's was broken up last year)
M101-6 while I think possible I have never heard of one esp with variations |

There likely are a handful of Zeenut sets that haven't been completed. Two that come to mind are 1926 and 1933-36.

1923 W572s.
Doubtful anyone will ever complete a "complete" set since there are 2 cards in the Standard Catalogue checklist that no one has even said they own or even seen ... and another 9 for which no known photos exist (although these probably exist). Last edited by SMPEP; 12-04-2014 at 09:18 AM. |

I know of one complete 1933-36 Zeenut set, but I believe it took him many years to assemble.

E94 master set of all colors (not yet at least). That said, no one will likely ever complete a "true" master set with an orange color variation of each player (to go along with red, blue, olive, green, violet and gold) because only one orange variation exists for each player and half of the players do not have a reported orange variation card at all. I have six and I have seen or heard of only a handful of others- including the Cobb (net54er), Crawford (leon), etc.
I also don't think a true master set of 1911 Zeenuts exist because of all the many variations plus you have to be lucky enough to have a Bohen. I don't think even Mark Macrae has them all because of all the rare variations which pop up, although I'm sure no one is closer than Mark. |
