Drew-
That is a really beautiful piece. Did you put that together, or did you acquire it like that? I wasn't quite clear on that. However you acquired it, what a wonderful collection. You don't have to be a Dodgers fan to appreciate that (though I am). It's funny, the first time I really remember being interested in learning about the Brooklyn Dodgers was after watching the movie Mask. Rusty was putting together a 1955 Brooklyn Dodgers set. I already loved baseball, and I knew about some of the players, but I didn't know about the absolute love affair that the people of Brooklyn had with their baseball team. And learning about dem Bums really helped kick my passion for the game's history in high gear, where it's been ever since. I know you mentioned to me that Carl has really been kind to you in your correspondence with him over the last few years, and that the message you sent to me was in response to a post I made on the vintage card side. The auction on the 1953 Bowman Color card ends tonight, and I'm really hoping to win the card. I'm going to build the entire set, and that would be the first card I have that's not SGC graded. I was thinking about sending that card off to him to see if he would kindly autograph it. I'd love to relate my story to him, as well as my appreciation of the Dodgers as a whole. My fingers are crossed. ![]()

By the way, I'm almost certain that you've seen this as a Dodgers fan. But on the off chance that you haven't, I have a documentary that HBO did on the Dodgers called Brooklyn Dodgers: The Ghosts of Flatbush. I recorded it last August, and I've probably watched it about 10 times by now. I'm going to watch it again this morning. I love it, and it really hammers home just how special the franchise was. I'm not old enough to really identify with Brooklyn fans that way, because while Milwaukee lost the Braves to Atlanta, by the time I was born in September of 1971, the city had already acquired the Brewers, who had, of course, been the new expansion Seattle Pilots in 1969. So I've never known my city to not have a baseball team (though the jokes have been made that the city didn't have a Major League Baseball team throughout much of the 90s, just a minor league team renting out County Stadium.
![]() Anyhow, if you haven't seen it, Drew, it's a must see. HBO Sports can't do enough baseball documentaries to keep me happy. They can do no wrong. ![]() The doc they did on Mickey Mantle and Ted Williams are permanently saved on my DVR. If that thing ever goes, I don't know what I would do besides pray that HBO shows it again. I think the Mantle is available on DVD, so I may have to pick it up. I'd pay handsomely for all of them.

Finally, added some potential Future HOFers through MAB Clearance Sale and MLBAA Private Signing (Mike Trout, Curt Schilling, Bruce Bochy & Jim Palmer). The signatures are all disgusting, which is a separate issue all together. The Palmer is a double and is FS (PM with offer if interested).

That reminds me of three autographed balls I saw for sale the other day. I couldn't match them up with the signers, and there were only three. Looking forward to the day when glyphs are no longer popular - then Jim Palmer can revert back to his old readable signature.
