OK. So who stayed up until the end of RMY?
Don't worry. It's OK to admit it. You're among fellow addicts, here. Congrats to rhys on a spectacular auction with many incredible photos. So who won what? I won 3 photos. 1927 World Series action with lou at first. Also happens to be on my birthday. 1924 Fielding image. 1934 Lou and the NY Rangers including hockey HOFers Lester Patrick, Bun Cook, and Bill Cook. I believe the slug is incorrect. It states that Lou is presenting rings to the Rangers for playing their 400th game since entering the league. Why would you give rings to a team for playing a number of regular games? Doesn't make sense to me. What I think is going on is this. He is presenting a ring just to Murray Murdoch. Murdoch was known as the Iron Man of Hockey at the time. From the beginning of his career, in 1926, he played 508 consecutive games. He is still number 19 on the all time hockey consecutive games played list. So, he got a ring for game 400, not the entire ranger team. IMO, It would make sense that the Iron Man of Baseball would present a consecutive games played award to the Iron Man of Hockey. Any other winners.

Although my days of staying up for any auction have long since passed, I did win 3 items when my bids held.

I checked this morning and found I had set a new auction record:
I was underbidder on 35 items - that's direct underbidder. Rhys must love me. But I did manage to win 15 great photos and some were spectacular. This was probably Rhys' greatest assortment of photos ever. Here are my favorites that I was underbidder on. I think either of these could have gone for $1,000 or more and still been a deal. I ran out of bidding money, or they would have: ![]() ![]()

Scott,
Wow. 35 direct underbids! That has to be some sort of record. I wish I had more money as well. I would've gone after another 4 or 5 Gehrig photos that I thought sold very reasonably. That is a great Hooper. Albert, You're not alone. It happens to all of us. I did the same thing with the Legendary auction in September. So many photos sold for under value that I am still kicking myself.

Similar to Albert, I forgot about the ending time and started my "thorough browsing" with about 30 minutes to go for initial bidding. Needless to say, I didn't make it through everything. In spite of my procrastination, I managed to pick up a couple from my spot in the cheap seats:
Germany Schaefer ![]() Rogers Hornsby in civvies by Louis Van Oeyen ![]() If anyone picked up lot 332 (Nick Altrock & Al Schacht posing for photographers at 1925 World Series), I would love to get a hi-res scan of that one.

Got knocked out of the Black Sox items but did manage to get one item, Lot # 40. The newspaper shot of Ruth`s new wife and the insert of him from what looks like 1920. The insert of Ruth looks exactly like the image used on the Ruth candy wrapper, the Babe and that million dollar smile. Will looked great framed in the hobby room. Great auction. Also, that Lajoie shot is UNREAL congrats Brian.

I only won one, but it's kinda cool... A "Where's Waldo" of sorts, but with Babe Ruth as the subject.
This image really conveys his immense popularity, as the "living legend" arrives for Spring Training... |

Brendan, it was a bad night not to have extra cash. I would have loved to have had $3K to throw at the Weaver, Speaker/Hornsby and Lajoie. Might have had enough leftover for a Gehrig.

I like the Evar Swanson photo. He was the Galesburg, Il postmaster when I went to work there in 1971. He came around and talked to me for about half an hour and I didn't know he played baseball until someone told me. Evar is the one that got me interested in early baseball.
