Where did he get the cards? Surely the dealer has a scan, or submitted the cards to SGC and can find the serial number.

He said they were his dad's. But yeah there must be some way to trace them back to someone, you would think?

+1, I thought something smelled fishy early on...but maybe I'm wrong. If they were his dad's, then either he purchased them graded or got them graded himself.

Once we have the answer to that, either SGC will help or VCP / google will help. If any are raw, then I believe the OP is SOL. Kinda hard to prove the cards were ever in your possession without scans or serial numbers!

If this isn't a scam, then I can only imagine how horrible this would be!!

Default Ed--

If you really want help, give the full story, not just 2-3 clip-line sentences. You give no one anything to go on so far.

Sir, these guys would like to help you. But you are not giving anything for them to help with. Thats all from what i read. Theres really no way they can without any pics, serial #'s or where they were bought from.
Recently a guy got robbed (post-war) and provided in depth list and etc. Was able to recover some of them with some of these guys help and the police across many states and ebay.

Ed,

If I may be permitted to ask a question...why did you have these in a briefcase at a hotel?

Not casting aspersions here, as I can think of many valid reasons...you were setting up at a card show in the hotel or nearby...traveling to spend time with a friend or family member and wanted to show them the T3 cards...showing them to a current or prospective client/customer...etc.

Additionally, someone posted that only a handful of examples in that particular grade exist. This may help track down scans, or at the very least, cert numbers. It may be an avenue you wish to explore.

Best regards,

Eric
