Default Rea

Pickup. Scan of the reverse of one of the cards below. Consigned from the family of Pete Sweeney according to REA. Two of 5 poses from OJ set, which I will be looking to add 1 to my collection. Thanks Val, I thought you would appreciate them.

Pete, nice pickups! Are you able to identify the player? Is he a Washington player?
Best,
Val

Default 1st Basketball Card EVER!

Just got this back from PSA.

Couple of cool things about this card:
#1 This is the VERY First Basketball card ever! Card #1!
#2 This card was in an attic a few months ago and was part of the 2014 Vermont Find.
#3 Take a look at how this card FILLS the gasket! SOLID! I call these Vermont cards the "Gasket fillers!"

Peace, mike

Pete, again, great pickups - and, thanks for adding the player ID info - I thought this player looked awfully familiar. FYI, one of my top collecting focuses 10 - 20 years ago (not so much these days) was all poses, text variations, etc. of all the N172 Washington players. Here is a scan of the 3 Sweeny (sic Sweeney) poses I have, 2 of which match your REA pickups. If you don't acquire a N172 Sweeny elsewhere to match one of your cabinets, you are welcome to one of mine (I'd much rather trade than sell).
Best,
Val (ekehl333@aol.com)

Default Numbers 263 and 264 in the rebuilt collection

Pete Z. here on the board contacted me with a couple days left in the recent REA auction and offered to trade his Bransfield with a Hindu back and Howe's stamp, along with the Milan Piedmont and Howe's stamp if I was able to pickup one of the Hindu-backed T206s in the auction. Well, I knew Pete had had the Bransfield for several years, but didn't know about the Milan, so looking at the prospects of picking up one Howe-stamped Hindu-backed T206 for the same cost (or more) or getting two made that a pretty easy choice. Thanks for the trade, Pete.

Picked up this T201 Leach Auto, which I had passed on when it first came out of the Great Pittsburgh Signed Pre-War Card Find of 2007. Seems that Leach signed it twice in different pens, when the ballpoint ran out -- although it is possible it was traced over in someone else's hand. Either way, the underlying ballpoint is legit, and was certified by JSA.
