Default Sal Maglie no-hit game and 1956 World Series Game 1 congrats Western Union telegrams

I picked up a couple of neat Western Union congratulatory telegrams that were sent to Sal "The Barber" Maglie following his no-hitter and win in Game 1 of the 1956 World Series vs. the NY Yankees.

Maglie apparently saved several of these telegrams and they subsequently surfaced in the hobby following his passing in 1992. These two originated from two fellow Italian American families that knew him and sent their well wishes.

Ironically, Sal Maglie was also on the wrong side of another no-hitter in 1956. Maglie was the losing pitcher in Don Larsen's historic World Series perfect game (Game 5) on October 8, 1956, less than two weeks following Maglie's no no.

Scott,
I like those colorful and personal Western Union no-hit telegrams to Sal Maglie.
Here's a telegram from Texas Senator J. Tower sending his congrats to a no hit pitcher in the '60s

I got this as a gift from one of our board members (thank you!). My understanding is that it was personally owned by Red Schoendienst. It will make an excellent companion piece to a Red Schoendienst signed hunting license I have, so I could not be happier to add it to the collection.

Very nice. My grandfather hunted with Red. I inherited a shotgun shell personalized with the Cardinal logo and Red's Hall of Fame induction year.

Couple of odd Cleveland Stadium pickups. The seats I've had for years, finally got around to refinishing them. (I know, they aren't exact, but they look great.) The Browns' trunk is from the 90's. I bought it at a local auction, and it was so darned cheap I had to get it. Now I store crap in it; it beats plastic tubs.

Great man-cave baseball-movie viewing seats!

(but terrible for making out)

Just received this baseball used in NLDS Game 2 - 18 inning game. It's a Tim Hudson strikeout pitch to Denard Span. The MLB TV replay shows Hudson spitting in his hand and then rubbing the ball up. How did he get away with that?
