And after him it was Mantle, then the failure with Murcer and a long drought. Jeter was the Yankees 'settling', and this farewell tour is marketing him to be something he simply wasn't.

I agree totally with you except don't you think Joe Pepitone is in there as a bridge between Mantle and Murcer. What about Munson also.
Personally I was hoping Mickey Rivers would have filled that role before Jeter😄😄😄😄😄
