Ted, that 52 Bowman large football sheet is the best one so far. I'm a little biased to that set though.

Hey Clint I am certainly in agreement with you. Of all the Sportscards' sheets in my collection, this sheet is my favorite. The artwork is amazing. Pictured on it is one of my favorite guys, Sammy Baugh. And for the NY Giants fans, Frank Gifford's rookie card. ![]() This actual sheet is more impressive than my scan shows here. I have it framed, so this is a scan of a photo of it (so, it's a little fuzzy). TED Z . |

Nice 50 bowman sheet Ted. Have you seen any other complete bowman football sheets besides your 52?

Wow... wow... From a fellow Greek: Congrats on that 1950 Bowman.
One of my three favorite sets ever produced... just a beautiful set that looks like miniature museum pieces.

TEE KANIS, YIANNI......KAI EFHARISTO Greek for......"What's happening, Johnny......and thank you" The 1950 Bowman cards were loved by this 11 year old kid in 1950. Of all my original BB card collection that I recovered in the 1970's, the 1950 Bowman cards were the most plentiful. I needed only 12 to complete the set......and, my favorite, the Ted Williams card was the "biggie". Take care, TED Z . |

I recently saw a couple of uncut 1967 Laughlin sheets on e-bay and they got me to thinking.......... Can anyone confirm or deny the existence of uncut 1974 or 1978 Laughlin Negro League card sheets?

That's so cool... must have been awesome to find those sheets. Do you still have th entire set? (I'm guessing the answer is an emphatic "yes!" I've only got about 20 from that set... but their prized possessions. I just got the Warren Spahn... looks (again) like something that should be hung in the Louvre. The catcher cards are also amazing in that series. The '51 and '52 were awesome, too... but something about that '50 set with nothing on the front, is hugely appealing to me... Efharisto poli to you, too!

You'll like this story.....in 1950 (most of us kids in our neighborhood were 10 to 12 years old) if we weren't playing BB or Stick-ball,
we were playing Poker or Black-Jack on our porches. Instead of pennies or nickles, we would use for "betting chips" 1950 Bowman BB cards. I was real good at playing Black-Jack; and, I would win many 1950 Bowman BB cards. I guess that's why I found so many of them when I recovered the sportscards from my youth. TED Z . |

Topps printed the various series of this set on duplicate 100-card sheets. The 1st series consists of 80 subjects; therefore, Topps's printers
had to Double-Print two rows of cards to fill out their 100-card sheet. This 1st series sheet is a partial sheet of 50 cards, which comprises of cards #41-80. Note that cards #51-60 (top row and 3rd row down) are Double-Printed. The missing top half of this 1st series sheet comprises of cards #1-40. I believe that the row consisting of cards #31-40 are Double Printed. Dave Hornish (toppcat) is our resident expert on Topps sets......and, perhaps he will chime in here with additional insight regarding this great post-war set. ![]() TED Z . |
