I'm honestly more wary about his 0 seller rating than anything else. But looking at the card, everything appears right to me. The type at the bottom of the card, the registration being slightly off, etc. If anything, it might come back auth. You've got that upper right corner which doesn't match the wear pattern of the other three.

Good luck, and please let us know how this turns out.

Son of a %^&#!!! The seller's latest response:

"I'm sorry, Chris, but I changed my mind. What gave me pause was, subsequent to my last email, I noticed that after the eBay selling fee, I would net only $470. Then, at the same time, I got a response from Earl at Sportscard Guaranty in reply to the pictures I sent him, and he said that from what he can see, it may very well be authentic, and since the Old Mill back is rare, if the card is real and it grades numerically, it could sell for $2,000. I'm going to send it to him. The winning bidder blew it. He could have had the card in hand by now."

...what's especially annoying is that I told him the same damn thing two weeks ago. And, I'm not the type that will never justify spending that much on a piece of cardboard. Dammit...

That back is rare? Maybe it's rare with the Cobb red bg, but it's not a rare back. I have it as 29th out of 39 backs, with Ty Cobb being #1 and Piedmont 350 subjects as #39.

I'm sorry that it didn't work out. Darn.

SGC says it's rare so they can charge more for grading. They said the same thing to me when I wanted to have Matty Polar Bears and OM's crossed over from PSA.

I assumed by rare, he meant basically that it wasn't a piedmont back. Hopefully, he'll change his mind again. But, I doubt it.

I guess I should just pull up my floorboards and see what's down there...

Personally I don't think you missed out on much I wouldn't be surprised if that upper left is trimmed a bit.
