Default Did Mr. Titus Shave? Not very well...

John Titus's mustache was one of the last from around the time of that picture until 1972, so maybe one of MLB's mustache policemen before the Oakland A's revived facial hair wanted to censor the card! Also of note, Titus was one of the last players to use one of Cap Anson's old bats (found in The Sporting News of May 25, 1911, by another historian, Robert Schaefer). Titus got the bat from teammate Pat Moran, a Chicago player through 1909.
