1961 Post Company Issue

Following up on this thread, I had a few questions from picks I made in Cleveland.

First, why are some cards perforated and is there a value variation? I picked up quite a few of them in Cleveland at the show and they seemed to be the nicer cards I saw. Which is why I bought them.

Second, to echo a question above, does anyone have a list of print variations and info on why they occurred? I know on the FB side there is an extensive thread on the variations in the FB issue based on which cereals they were part of. I am curious because I picked up a pair of Jack Sanfords at the show, one with blue sky and one with a weird sky.

Adam, the reason some cards are perforated is because the "team" sheets that a kid could send away for were all perforated, for easy dis-assembly.

They tend to be cleaner because they did not have to "suffer" the ravages of handling during removal from the case and stocking, customer selection, check-out, intermingling with other items during the trip to its final home, storing, daily morning handling, nourishment, and reading. Finally, when the youngster wanted to cut the cards out himself, he did his dead level best with what fine motor skills he had developed. The natural oils and perhaps a tsch of salty sweat on his hands may have easily transferred to the cards that were "all too happy" to absorb these fluids and body oils off his hands. Finally, since we're discussing 1961, I must not fail to mention the asinine decision by Post to have the cards on the box share borders. What a "brilliant" way to destroy the chances of cutting the cards out nicely. Fortunately, Post must have listened to some irate tots or their doting mamas and changed the design of the box backs with the cards to incorporate a modest border between them to more easily extract the free prizes!
