As a boy, I was at the Bobby Murcer game in 1979, the first game after Thurman Munson's funeral, when Murcer delivered the eulogy and then drove in 5 runs to singlehandedly beat the Baltimore Orioles. Probably the only highlight of the 1979 season for Yankee fans.
Also as a boy, on the football side, I was at the New York Giant game that resulted in "the fumble," when instead of sitting on the ball with less than 30 seconds in the game, Joe Pisarcik handed off to Larry Csonka, who fumbled the ball. Herm Edwards picked up the ball and galloped for a touchdown and an impossible Eagles win. Since I've been a grown man, I haven't been to any games of historical consequence. -Al |
