Barry, I'm just saying if I would have won it, I would ask the seller to confirm it's a 1914, as it was advertised as, before I paid him. If it turned out to be a 1915, I'm sure he would understand you not paying, as he would have been guilty of false advertising, innocent as it may have been...

Default Thanks Tom

Coming along slowly but surely. I need to take a 6 -12 month break tho and let these heavy hitters get their sets first. How about you?

And Barry, if it IS a '15, I'll take it off your hands; I still need one for my set.

Hey Tom, great idea…..I probably should have thought of contacting the seller AFTER committing to buy to make sure that it was a 1914, but just did not think of it. I will keep everyone posted regarding the status of the card.

Doug, thanks for the offer if it is a 1915. I have no idea what the market is for a 1915 Cady in this condition. If it is a 1915, I would either look to return it to the seller, or sell it for what I paid. I will keep you posted.

i agree Barry, let him get the card in the mail before someone else emails him and lets him know. We've seen it many times, so I think its better to just get the card in the mail. Even if its a '15, you'll either get your money back from the seller via refund or it'll likely sell for that price as a '15 anyway. But I agree, the condition (wear + caramel etc) its in makes me think its thin paper and thus a '14, not the thick stuff that '15s were made from.

Eric, I'm in the same boat as you ... I can't afford the new prices so I'm hoping they will cool off a bit sometime down the road. Till then, will keep hunting for bargains like Barry did!

Rob

Extremely wise on Barry's and your part Rob. Alert seller to nothing until it's in your hands. Don't know what I was thinking with that Monday morning QB advice!! I'm getting rusty..!!!
