When I resurrected my childhood 1955-1960 collection in the 1980's, I first worked to complete these sets and started 1952-54 sets and various 1960's sets. And, I also picked up various football & basketball cards. But, the more pre-War cards I saw (which I never knew existed when I was a kid), the more I became drawn to them. By the early-mid 1990's, I was pretty much totally into pre-War cards, and have been ever since, although I am always looking for very scarce cards of Pete Runnels & Mickey Vernon (my childhood favorite players). I keep telling myself that I should sell my post-War cards to fund more pre-War, but I just can't bring myself to do this because I still like them and because of the childhood memories. But, at least I'm starting to part with the football & basketball cards, which no longer interest me.

I'm working on a hofer run.

48 thru 79 bowman and topps regular issue hofers inducted as players in "G/VG" grade.

I've gotten most of the "easy" ones in the 40's (23/33) and 50's, (320/337).
While focusing on 40's and 50's, I picked up 60's (229/340) & 70's (247/343) as the mood struck me over the last few years. About ready to actively fill in the 60's now.

Also completed a 52 bowman set and 73 topps set, both G/VG, a couple of years ago. Also finished the 72 set I started as a kid (my first year collecting). That's it post war pre 1980 for me.

As a child...I think the cards I coveted the most were the "oversized" cards from the early-mid 50's...which I could never afford! So I have a small collection of 50's cards I never had as a child...but always wanted!

I started collecting years ago by collecting HOF players rookie cards. I also decided to collect cards of the few major leaguers that attended the same high school I did, Jesuit High in New Orleans.( Tookie Gilbert, Rusty Staub, Will Clark are examples). So I have some post war, pre1980 cards. I now have focused my collecting purchases toward building a T206 portrait set, a Scrapps set (really liked the mystery around these and the way they look), and pre war HOFers I can afford, while keeping my postwar HOFers.

I always steered away from anything post 1919 but lately I have put together Topps sets I had as a kid- 1958, 1959, 1960, 1961 and getting ready to go after 1962. That's it. I discovered girls in 1963

I go for players I love and admire from Ruth all the way to Trout.

I have a run of '70's Topps sets out of nostalgia for the years I was ripping packs. And I collect odds and ends, mostly iconic HOF stuff from the 40's-60's that I like - nothing more systematic than that.
