I gave Joey the benefit of the doubt on the robbery, but his photos showing up in auctions is going to have to be explained. He can post the police report and he can put all of his stolen photos in photo bucket or some other image-hosting service, which is what anyone would do if they wanted other collectors to be on the look-out for them. Instead, he deleted all of his images and the first we see of them is in this RMY auction. Not good at all.

Was there ever any verification that he was in possesion of anything? If you add up the cost of his "pick-ups", it was quite a spending spree.

He tended to not hold onto the expensive pieces for very long, apparently selling one off to fund the next. He offered this particular photo to me on a couple of occasions, but I think he had more in it than I was willing to pay. It seemed like what got him in trouble was when he would win the next piece before the previous piece was sold, and then the scrambling would begin, often accompanied by a tale of woe and change of ebay ID. It really did seem to all be a product of his buying habits rather than a scheme to make money. Or at least, if he was trying to make money, he was terrible at it, as I don't think I ever saw any of his flips actually turn a profit (though I'm sure he made plenty of deals I missed due to the ever-changing ebay IDs).

Yes, he bought tons of stuff.
He just sent an email telling me that he sold this one and a few others prior to the robbery. Regardless, it's only natural that as his photos started showing up at auction, questions are going to be asked. He knows the solution, but for some reason doesn't want make the police report or scans available to us. I'm not going to publicly speculate about his reasons.

Just so people are clear, I bought this photo and one other image from Joey approximately 6 days (from memory but I have paypal receipts I can look up) before the "break In" and was actually concerned myself when he made the announcement as the photos had been paid for but not received. I received them in the mail two days after the announcement. If anyone (police, curious collectors, lawyers) wants to chat about the photos or the purchase I would be happy to talk with them about it. I have neither bought nor received any photos from Joey since the "Break In". I didn't think anything of the timing until Ben brought it to my attention today so I figured I would just throw this information out there.
