I attended the Cubs/ Yankees game Wednesday afternoon at Wrigley. There's a table & showcase set up inside the park with game used stuff, signed memorabilia by Banks, Williams, Jenkins etc... They also sell old line up cards that the are taped up in the dug out. I noticed one set off to the side, it was the Cubs vs Yankees from Yankee Stadium from April 6th, asked the price and bought it. There's only one for each dugout. I asked about the lineup cards from the games played at Wrigley (2), they're going to auction starting at $500 I was told.

Default 1944 Marines Baseball Photo Pearl Harbor Hodges?

Picked up this photo of the Marine baseball team at Pearl Harbor in 1944. I know Gil Hodges was stationed there in that time frame, and the player in the back row, 2nd from left looks like him. Any thoughts?

Great photo, but that's not Gil -- way too short for one thing.

+1 This marine is too small in stature to be Gil Hodges.

Default Marine Picture

Thanks, I thought he was a little small, but facial characteristics are similar. Here are a few PC's I picked up yesterday with the Marine photo:

I just picked up this 1959 Spic and Span Dry Cleaners premium cap. It compliments my Spic and Span garment bag and fits well into my odd ball Hank Aaron Collection.

Default Ted Williams - 1940-41 signed George Burke

Questions and discussion taken offline.

(Not trying to be secretive or anything, but the picture itself is not in great shape - my questions involved restoration and I realized it wouldn't be of much interest to anyone).

I'm relatively new to these boards as my collection has shifted from modern towards vintage. I've found myself targeting some of the more obscure events in baseball history, particularly when it involves something beyond regular games. I recently picked up this baseball, signed by the 1931 team that went to Japan. I'm trying to figure out who the baseball was presented to, but having just the initials makes it tough...

That Stromsburg photo is awesome...can you read what it says on the bag the African American player is holding?

Guy W. Green the famous originator of the Nebraska Indians was from Stromsburg and played for them...although I do not see him in this photo. If I did I'd be PM'ing you.
