Frank - monster weekend for The Monster puts me at 457. Still have my work cut out for me to crack the top 50.

You are getting down the home stretch. Which cards did you save for last?

Hi Frank,

Can you please bump me up to 451 when you have a chance?

Thanks,

Steve

Desiderata

You are a child of the universe,
no less than the trees and the stars;
you have a right to be here.
And whether or not it is clear to you,
no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should.
With all its sham, drudgery, and broken dreams,
it is still a beautiful world.
Strive to be happy.

Alex - I hadn't tallied the remaining cards in a while, so glad you asked - other than the 6 I'll never own, I need 25 (so called) commons, 15 SL's and 21 Hofers - not impossible in my lifetime.

Kevin - That is very doable. The fun thing about the monster is that there are a ton of subsets (or mini-milestones as I like to think of them).

A quick turn around used to be my norm but lately I have been going nearly a month between updates. The planets aligned this week, I guess. I grabbed 5 since my last post (including two from The MN maestro himself. Thanks Frank!). Foster kills the Southern Leaguers for me. All I have left are the six biggest Dawgs, the non-Nat'l Doyle (NY Hands Above Head), the inaugural HOF class, players celebrated in movies, poetry and song and a few HOF that are now by anyone with more than a passing interest in the history of the game. It grows questionable as to how much further I can take this. It is a given that my pace will slow but I will keep looking

After these five, my new MN is 484.9

242. Willie Keeler (Batting) P150
57. Mordecai Brown (Cubs On Shirt) P150
110. Sam Crawford (With Bat) SC350
313. John McGraw (Portrait No Cap) P150
172. Ed Foster OM

Not my scan but.....

Mike - That's awesome! I often wonder if it easier to put the if cards for last or if doing so will make me want to give up when I get there. What are your thoughts?

I always intended to get the tough ones out of the way first, it's was simply a case of 486 other cards coming my way first.
