Default Heritage Auction

Hey Everyone,

Bidding for the Spring 2014 Heritage Sports Signature Auction has begun and once again our catalog will be in three volumes. The catalogs went into the mail on Friday April 25 and should be arriving in mailboxes any day now. This auction contains a great selection of vintage cards coming to us from multiple consignments of hobby fresh cards from the E254, T206, N172 and 1932 US Caramel series.

If you would like to receive a complimentary catalog, then please send your contact information to me at peterc@ha.com and I will be glad to get you registered and send out a catalog.

Bidding for the card lots in session one ends on Thursday, May 15, 2014. Same format as last auction, you have to have bid on a lot before 10pm central time to be able to bid during the 30-minute extended period. Each lot ends on its own 30-minute clock rule. Be sure to check the final session on November 9, there is a nice selection of vintage cards there too. The home page for the auction is at: http://sports.ha.com/?ic=task-sports. Registration is free!

We have also created a very cool page where you can keep up with the Most Recent Bid Activity in the auction. Here is the link to the Recent bid page: http://sports.ha.com/c/recent-bid-ac...zx?saleNo=7105

I think we have a great selection. This auction starts off with an N175 Gypsy Queen of King Kelly! After that 19th century fans will find dozens of N172s from two new collections, some have the best quality photos you could hope for. Add to that N28s and a pair of N300 Mayo’s of Clarkson and Anson. A little too common for your taste? We have a Just So Tobacco Capt. Tebeau, N403 Yum Yum Tiernan, two N321s, two Joseph Hall cabinets and a newly discovered N173 Old Judge Tim Keefe. The 20th Century starts off with an E107 Rube Waddell and a newly discovered E107 Honus Wagner! Joe Jackson fans will find an M101-2 supplement, a great looking E90-1 and his BF2 and W514 cards. Caramel card highlights include an E97 of Sullivan (Color), a NM+ E95 Evers, four lots of E254 Colgan’s Chips (all part of the collection with the T206 Hindu cards) and a complete run of E136/E137 Zeenuts. Tobacco fans will find both T205 Wilhelm variations, T215 Red Cross Tinker and Cobb cards, T207s a T208, high grade T202s and the T206s… including a selection of new Hindu Red and Brown backs. Among the Hindu roster is a partial set of southern leaguers, Napoleon Lajoie, Chief Bender, Johnny Evers, Clarke Griffith and yes, that Ty Cobb! For you Black Sox fans there is an E137 McMullen, E90-3 and C46 Gandil cards plus three Buck Weaver cards - his T207, E100 and T4 Obak Premium! Ty Cobb is well represented via his E90-1, E95, T206s (ten to choose from), T3 Turkey Red and M110 Sporting Life Cabinet cards.

Do you like rare? Got you covered. There are two “Big Eater” cards, two T217 Mono cards, a T208 Cullivan’s Fireside, an E221 team card, more T4s, an Old Mill cabinet and a 1913 Oakland Oaks card.

Naturally we have a set of E98 cards from the Black Swamp find. Until now, the game plan was to start with the best cards and continue on until the “lowest” graded set was remaining. Part of the feedback we received was from collectors who said they will wait until that last set becomes available, assuming it will be the cheapest. Well, now is your chance! You can’t tell by some of the grades but this set is the lowest graded complete set we could put together – if you consider Ty Cobb in “8” and a pair of the greatest looking “Good+ 2.5” cards you’ll ever see – and they are both Honus Wagner!

From the ‘30s there is a selection of high grade 1938 Goudey cards, the 1934 Goudey #1 Jimmy Foxx US Patent Office card, a newly discovered collection of incredible 1932 U.S. Caramel cards plus over a dozen Babe Ruth cards including his ’27 Honey Boy, E121, E220, V100, Tharp’s Ice Cream, E126, two different W511s, W512 (part of a set), WWG and four ’33 Goudey cards topped off by a #144 in SGC 84 NM 7! And that’s just the baseball section…

Post-war fans won’t be disappointed either, particularly 1952 Topps, 1953 Bowman Color, Red Man and 1962 Topps enthusiasts.

As mentioned, the auction runs from May 15-17, 2014 and Good Luck!

Peter

Man o Man..i was hoping nobody notice this auction going on. Hoping everyone would spend their big wads of cash at REA.
I placed early bids, i think 10 days ago. Well, i also noticed some things 'trimmed' but it said it in the description. I still love the card despite it and it shows very well..Defintely worth a re-bid.
BTW, i got my book in today in the mail.

Just an incredible auction, I just finished thumbing through it. I can already see I'm in big trouble being that my dream card is present. I'd better start scrambling immediately!

On a side note, I'm not normally a bat hunter, but this one struck me as a beautiful piece. The patina gives it that little extra pop.

Default Heritage

I'd just like to give a huge thank you to Pete Calderon, and Heritage auctions. I emailed Pete to see if I can get a catalog of their current auction. He emailed me back and said he will see what he can do.

I arrived home today, and there was a FedEx next day package with 3 catalogs, and he also included a copy of the Feb 2014 Platinum auction.

Great auctions, will some of the best photography!

Thanks Pete.

Tony

Just love their scans and the ability to see a huge high definition image. Other auction companies should take notice. Haven't gotten my catalog yet, but my bids are placed.
Great job guys

Default Trimmed tebeau

What is the evidence that SGC missed that the Just So Tebeau is trimmed? I would assume SGC knows the dimensions.
