I mention the one here in Cleveland from time to time. They play some of the games at League Park, and use 1865 rules.. Haven't been to a game yet, but I bet it would be a good time. This year's schedule isn't up yet, but the website's pretty cool if you poke around a bit. Gotta bunch of goodies in regards to the history of the stadium, and a bunch of stuff about 19th century baseball in Cleveland.

The Boston area had a few local events; one was at George’s Island last summer that included two teams in vintage 19th century uniforms playing a game for the afternoon.

This season will be my 5th with the Wyandotte Stars BBC. We play by the rules of 1867 and play in about 25 matches a season. With '67 rules we play by the fly and not the bound (you can catch any fair or foul ball on one bounce to put the runner out). I have broken a few fingers playing shortstop, but oddly, only on thrown balls and not batted. We have guys aged 23 to 64 with an average of around 40 or so. I couldn't imagine a summer not playing. It is so much fun. The only bummer this season is that I will be limited to two days at the National because of a tournament up North that I can't miss.
This is a pic of my teammates and I (middle) just yesterday in the pit under a high school gym. Cannot get enough cuts and can't wait for the weather to break. Best, Andy |
