No idea. I hadn't heard of him before I started Googling, but it may just be that he was not a "primarily baseball" photographer. I admit to being somewhat of an uncultured buffoon about such things when they fall outside the realm of baseball.

from a quick google search, i have found him described by Christie's auction house as the most important NY times photographer in the 20's to 30's, and another description that had his starting time with the NY Times as 1916. (1898 -1970). Time period certainly fits. Really curious about this assemblage.
