If pas gave negative grades, my collection would probably fall into that category.

Having said that, I don't really bother with grading. Not that I have anything against it, but when creased, tears, trimming, holes, writing and stains are pretty much pre-requisites for cards to enter your collection, you find that technical grades are the furthest thing from your mind. Hell, in my case, it doesn't even have to be a complete card, and often that's even preferred. For financial reasons, of course.

PSA meaning Prostate-Specific Antigen can be a marker for the early diagnosis of prostate cancer. A low PSA number is desirable, preferably less than 1.

You'd probably get better responses if you asked "Which condition range do you prefer to collect?" or something to that effect. I think most people on here have a general condition range that they mostly stick to, for a combination of aesthetic and monetary reasons. Your question (whether intentional or not) makes it sounds like you are more concerned about the type of case the card is in, and the number on the card, than the card itself.
My set is being built mostly raw, and in the FAIR to VG range.

I personally collect T206 HOFers in PSA grade 4 only. I've occasionally purchased 4s in other TPG holders for tougher backs, but did cross each over to PSA. I'm sure some board members would cringe at the thought or find it silly, but hey...whatever works for you, right? You'll notice most of my BST sales fall into that category. I do this for three reasons.

First, I'm highly obsessive about organization and things being uniform. From work, to home, and now to card collecting. Having every card in the same grade is attractive to me. Whatever the reason, it is satisfying for me and makes collecting enjoyable...for me.

Second, it helps me pace myself in the hunt. If I have a smaller potential set of possible cards out there on the market that fit what I'm collecting, it makes the daily hunt a little more fun, much more challenging...and ultimately takes more time and spreads the bankroll out. Especially since I've started accumulating different backs, it's often months between acquisitions. When I started a few years ago, I was blowing out my "card allowance" literally in minutes each month because there are so many out there.

Third, I'm relatively new to the pre-war world. When I first started, I was buying all T206 and 1933 Goudey in different TPG grades and raw. Coming right in as a new collector and trying to keep all different TPG grades price scales across multiple sets and then throw in raw cards on top of it was simply too much. I found myself making mistakes and also missing out on good deals at times. Focusing on a small group of cards, within a certain set, within a certain grade has really helped me get a hang of the pricing market, making it more of a hobby and less of a job.

The great part about collecting is YOU define YOUR set, and there's tens of thousands of possible ways to go at it.

So your suggesting that he put sugar on his question, to make it seem like the range from the TPG and the range he would assess the card are two totally different things? You basically said, what he asked in a reworded sentence, to eliminate inferred connotation which might spark some heated response.

I thought it was pretty obvious what the guy was asking.

I collect 5+ condition because that pretty much sums up what I am looking for in my collection. Looking for complete corners, nice centering and focus. I have had to pass on some 5s because they were really 4s with a gnawed on corner and I have some 5s that could be 7s.

Hahaha. What's better than giant pumpkins and baseball cards . I have been to and competed in a lot of giant pumpkins competitions and held the Connecticut state record for a few years. I do hold the biggest giant tomato in Connecticut at just under 3 lbs. lol. We feed all of out giant vegetables a lot of organic material, cow crap, compost, seaweed, etc.

I don't have a set grade. I buy the most affordable copy I can find of anything I am looking for. If I have a choice between two in similar price ranges, I will go for the more attractive of the two. The common cards in my collection, if graded, would probably average a PSA 1-1.5 The rarer cards in the collection are probably closer to a 4. When the card rarely comes up for sale, I don't mind spending the extra to get it.

I have never sent a card in for grading. I think it would be nice to have everything in slabs, and all from the same company, but it would be an expensive endeavor to send them all in plus it would take a lot more space to store the collection that I just don't have.

I don't collect t206 per se though. I think I have maybe 3 or 4. The only one that is in a holder is an SGC Authentic. It is really moldy, and I cannot tell you how happy that it is sealed up in that holder for my protection and those around me.
