Note only is EBay not enforcing their rules, they are actually promoting this auction.

I received an email today saying "Still looking? Rare Honus Wagner T206 Card" and linking to the auction.

That is very odd. Is there a way for you to respond to the email?

I suggested that the seller raise his BIN price based on recent sales of higher grade Wagners. He told me he was considering asking $400,000, but wouldn't because he could not afford the $1,100 PSA wanted for authentication. He asked for my suggestions. I'm stumped, but I hate to see him leave all that money on the table. I'd be happy to relay anyone's suggestions for the seller.

Tell him to submit it to GAI. I'll bet he could get a better price from them.

Well, I responded with the suggestion of consideration of moving the card via an Auction House if his reserve is not reached, explaining that the Auction Houses frequently will cover the cost of authentication and grading and the prices realized and fees are comparable to Ebay. I apologize in advance to any of my Auction House friends, who may have to break the news to the seller. In my defense I did not make any specific recommendations.

When the seller told me it could be real "You never know", I told him that I know. The auction was then wisely discontinued by the seller, and then

this morning I thought for a moment it had been relisted, but alas this is a different rarity.

Could be worth a million, but he'll sell it for $5,000.

I'm becoming jaded. At first these a@@holes shocked and angered me. After a while I found them amusing. Now they're just tedious.
