I am now thinking that maybe this was an older auction and the story is still online, years later
It did seem very weird, when I first saw it, that a Heritage exec would be running his own auctions.
Which is why I posted my question on the board.
Even though some of those prices realized are quite high, even by today's standards, especially $7600 for a 1940 Reds ball. Now I know someone who will never be able to sell his .
ps.
I just got an e mail that confirmed that this was an old auction. So never mind .

I believe his auctions were taken over by Premier Auctions

Rich , I think it might have been a mix of past auctions in particular lot #9 sold many years ago for about that same price and then was broken up. Unless there were two identical lots or Jeff discovered another one.
That and some of the prices seem low and some really high.

I don't pay much attention to auctions in progress only past prices realized I could indeed be wrong but some of those do seem familiar

With the McGwire signed bat selling for 2k, that auction is probably 12+ years old.
