Congrats to the winner on a great pickup.

Josh
I was wondering if it would slip through because it was a late addition so it wasn't in the catalog besides a quick mention in the back, but without pictures. It did well, but I think the winner got a good deal based off some previous prices realized.

Default Since when did bad become good ? .....Hey Frank, since at least the 1970's

Here's an eclectic group of "bad" cards (misprints, miscuts, etc.) that have been popular with collectors since I started collecting (since the 1970's).
So, nothing new with this type of collecting interest.....it's been around for a long time and will continue as long as this hobby does.

Circa 1888 color misprint (missing blue ink).

Misprint back (Collins) and miscut front (Titus / Smith)
.

Puttman proof and some T206's

1949 LEAF's ......Wrong back (Gordon / Feller) and "crazy" looking Billy Johnson

Sean -- I think SGC just wasn't grading with numbers these types of miscuts back then as they do now. Clearly the card isn't hand cut.

This Type-2 makes me think the sheets were setup different from T206s, Doyle appears closer to his neighbour then Murray (not my card) does.

Interesting-I wonder if there are any Type-1 frontal miscuts out there?

actually, we are just following stamps and coins in recognizing these types of printing issues. It's a normal evolution.

Hi Frank, I have to agree with you. In my eyes, a severe miscut means the value of a $30 low grade common drops to five bucks.

Shows you what I know!

Is perhaps indicative of the boredom inherent to collecting T206s. Each to his own.

Being collectors we all love to have rare pieces that are one of a kind. Something that no one else in the world has. No two print freaks are the same so if you own one then you have a one of one. Then again everyone has different taste in collecting. I don't see the attraction in collecting paper clips but someone does.

I found this Clarke portrait with a streaked background in my stash. Its a pretty clean card with no creases or scratches. Could the stripe effect happened during printing? Would this be a rarity? I appreciate insight from the experts.

Default Scot....

sweet miscuts!

wildfire-

Clarke is an odd one you have there......id have to see it in person, but it may be a print anomaly, may not.....unfortunately, this type of error, if it is a print anomaly, would prob not carry a big premium(unless a collector finds interest).....more off an oddball type ....if it was missing the color/ different color/ half color/ ect/ ect, would carry a bigger premuim

hope this helps

peace

johnny

Collins indeed, very cool card. I gathered some "freaks" at shows back in the mid-late 80's till early 90's. Then wondered why I had bought them, lol. Been doing pre war portraits since. It may be time to reap the benefits and help with my other sets.

I sold most of my childhood collection while in college (around 1980) but for some reason I kept these. I still remember opening the packs that I found these in.

Working out of town on a big job. [underwater welder], and hope to have our commitment done by mid feb. I will have 5 weeks off after that, and can get some work done in that area. Jeff

Edit: Yes, not all were t206, but a handful are.
