Where is the flaw that brings an obvious EX/NM+ (maybe better) down to a VG/EX? These are the kind of cards I love buying (usually raw); minor, insignificant crease on an otherwise beautiful card.

Great card! I have a couple of Mantles that look way better than their technical grade.

That's just it. The card has no creases! If I had to venture a guess as to why the low grade, on the reverse, there are a couple very faint roller marks. The 1954 set was not known for their pristine quality control. You will find the cards with roller marks, print lines, etc.
