I don't know how long it was used, but the Adirondack watermark is listed in a 1910 directory. And it is not a currently used paper brand.

Can you send me the link to where you saw that?

He's got to back up his contention with facts, rather than an off the cuff impression. Especially in the light that the Aderondack brand clearly is an old brand of paper. I'm just guessing that he thought the paper looked modern due to the watermark, but, as I said earlier, watermarks have been in paper for centuries.

Maybe he's a paper historian, I don't know. But, then, he'd have the facts and dates to back up his contention.

For the record, I'm no expert on Ruth autographs and have no opinion on the authenticity beyond that I know Scott and Richard know Ruth autographs.

Thats what im saying,. He never even brought up the auto itself just the paper and had no facts to back it up. It just makes me nervous especially with the money I just spent on it. And then he wanted to bring up the fact that jsa has authenticated known forgeries

Hindsight is 20/20 vision, but it would have been best to not mention the JSA LOA up front.

It may color perceptions one way or another. Certainly there are some individuals who will relish the opportunity to dump on something only because it has a JSA cert.

I do not know Ruth enough to offer an opinion. But in my view, the JSA LOA should be weighed with a high degree of credibility. Then gather the opinions of other collectors/dealers you trust to "put it to bed" in your mind.

In other words, don't let the contrary voice of one person ruin it for you. There will always be "that one person" with just about any autograph.

In full disclosure, I am the space consultant for JSA.
