Nice pennant congrats...great condition...I've had two with that same ball carrier....both mint that I got from Keith Schneider of Gasoline Alley Antiques in Seattle...one maroon colored Harvard one...the other navy for Yale...traded both them many years ago for a rare poster...

Default 1938 National Air Mail Week - Van Meter, IA Envelope
By far my favorite item this year. Thousands of cities participated in this promotion back in 1938, creating their own unique designs for the occasion. Van Meter, Iowa decided to honor their favorite son for this event.

Thanks Carlton. Any idea what year these pennants were produced? If you come across a Cal pennant from the same era and you pass please let me know. You scored big time on the hurdler statue, absolutely stunning piece! Cheers
