I would like to finish my '52 Topps set. I am missing some high numbers and the Page/Sain error as well as 2 other Campos variations (I have 1 red star / black star thanks to a board member). Al-R has got me thinking about trying to complete variations within the set....
If I do so, I will probably never finish given the infamous mid-series gray backs much less trying to pick up the "glossy" mid-series gray backs. I don't think I have ever even seen a mid-series glossy gray back. Which leads to the question....at what point will I be "done" collecting the '52 Topps set? Z Wheat |

Well, last night I purchased a 1958 Topps, J.W. Porter Yellow Name Variation card. That was the last card I needed to complete the 1958 master set of all cards and all variations.
So at the moment I'm at a loss for what comes next, aside from better organizing and presenting my collection. I'll continue to add to my Ripken collection as I always do. Other than that, I'm contemplating the following, indecisively at the moment: 1955 or 1956 Topps Hank Bauer Random Type Collecting/whatever cards strike my fancy Last edited by timzcardz; 12-05-2013 at 11:24 AM. |

I just completed my Hank Aaron Topps 1954-76 Topps regular issue collection. I was able to complete it pretty reasonably as I was lucky on some auctions and was willing to buy mid-grade cards. I will probably upgrade some in the future, but I am pretty excited to finish this as Hank is my favorite all-time player.

Question for you. Of these regular issued cards, do you have a favorite and runner up? |

My favorite is 1957. The colors are great plus I love how the stadium scene is in the background. Overall, just a beautiful card. My runner-up is the 1974 (main card) for sentimental instead of aesthetic reasons. 1974 is the first year I collected cards. It was also the year Hank broke Ruth's record and, as a kid growing up in Atlanta, this was a magical time.

And, my second is the 1975 Topps, Brewers one, for sentimental reasons as well. It was the first year I collected cards. I pulled one from a pack at the end of my street back in the midwest and proceeded to trade it right away for a Dick Allen, who was my favorite player at the time for the White Sox. Though it was not his last card it was neat to turn the card over and look at all the years of stats on the card. |
