I understand errors like Magie, Doyle and even ghost images to
a certain degree but since when did off-center become a plus? A little off-center is bad but a lot is good? Someone please explain it because i have no idea what is the attraction and why it only applies to T206.

Collectors don't realize how rare they are. Imagine how prices will skyrocket when that happens. Easily $1,000 cards.

When you see a regular front with "miscut" back where it has a descent amount of the adjacent ad it really means it was misprinted, not cut incorrectly.
The sheet was incorrectly aligned when the backs were printed, off setting the advertisements and then they were cut based off the front image. More print error then cutting error. For those who don't get excited about chasing the Monster in a plethora of "commons", these oddballs keep collecting the type exciting.

If you want crazy you need to check out the 89 Fleer Bill Ripken collectors. Just a simple print dot can increase the price by up to 10X what a NM card of the same variation sells for. I have sold 1 of the Black Box versions that normally sell for $1-$2 for $40 just because there was a print dot in the Black Box. |

As Chris & Johnny have alluded to above, they are very rare. Also, being a designer, the drastic miscuts are very appealing to me. they're graphic, bold and artistic...in a cubist or deconstructive manner.

I am with you guys but only have one T206 miscut type, unfortunately. They are so hotly contested nowadays, the more severe and "neat" ones go for a ton. And because we still get a lot of new members, there might be someone in the world who hasn't seen this one...

I agree with Ben...it is not just T206's. Some T201's have sold for quite a bit higher than I would anticipate as well. I am sure this happens in other card series as well.

i think the front miscuts are interesting, especially if there is a different player. that...is something i can see driving some value up since there is debates about sheet layouts.
but im with the OP on backs. just don't see it. rare ok. but the prices being paid are astronimical. there are cards that are in less numbers that go for less than what some people are paying for these. kevin |

Here's one i used to own, another board member has it now. Up until about 5 years ago, SGC was not even slabbing errors & miscuts. i brought a bunch to a show and convinced them it was a good idea, they did it. included in the bunch was an upside down back, yellow/brown scrap and this miscut. they said they would do it, but felt it was best to label it all as AUTH.

I have a few oddballs/mistakes not a lot of them. For me I don’t have to have a ton of them either nor do I want to. Having just a few simply rounds out a collection of a certain issue that I have collected since I was kid. I think they are neat and it gives a little insight into the production of the cards and adds a dash of unique to my collection.
![]() Mike LOL, I have owned this Knight card so long Sloate was still in business when I got it…I think I’m going to have to put a sticker on this like a museum pretty soon “on loan from the Sarno collection since 2007”. ![]() |

I think what drives some of the non T206 addicts a bit crazy with this phenomenon is that the high prices are so isolated to T206's.
For instance, I own this E92 - missing color on the front (should have the green background). E92's already are much scarcer than T206's, so why wouldn't this card sell for thousands of dollars since it's a "freak"? I'd probably be lucky to sell it for the same price as the regular version of the card. |

I do ask, tho, if there are any haters who'd like to give up some of those freaks/errors at a discount i'm your man ![]() there are enough of these freaks to start or continue the freak T206 sub culture....and I don't mind being the ring leader ![]() |

BTW- sick card!
There is a simple explaination for this.....popularity.....supply VS. DEMAND.... the market has to be there.....your variables are not present for driving up the price on your card....but, inmho, the potential is there.... You see, T206 has a huge market and a ton of cards to collect....ITS a popular set, and has new collectors pursuing/entering market daily.... your issue is not as popular as T206(altho popular).....once more collectors gain interest in that issue, if they do, then there d have to be interest in the "sub " culture cards in that issue to drive prices up on your freaks... personally, I see the T205 scraps/freaks the next to gain popularity other than T206......rarity does not always reflect the market price on non popular issues... suggestion.....buy a T206 ![]() ![]() Last edited by mrvster; 12-03-2013 at 07:36 AM. |

People love collecting T206s in a way that not everyone with a big bag of money can. The only impediment to building a set of 521 is cash, not availability. Collecting T206s in unique ways helps bring the collector closer to the set -- it becomes more personal. That is just one of the reasons why I love autographed T206 cards. And I am not alone...
Consider the following... T206 Sam Crawford on ebay for $199: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Sam-Crawford...item485c1a6a61 Sam Crawford Cut Sig on ebay for $299: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Wahoo-Sam-Cr...item19e4a854b5 Put them together and it'll cost you $6,500+: http://sports.ha.com/c/item.zx?saleN...lotIdNo=123003

Will admit that some of the posted cards are pretty cool, especially
the assortment that Wonka displayed. Looked through some of my raw cards and did find two that had the name at the top along with a few others with imperfections that others might deem collectible. Will go through my entire collection and look for any oddities etc that might be worth moving to the misfit subset of cards.

1. They are unique and they pose a fun challenge beyond merely monetary in assembling them from mainstream sets. Based on availability--money aside--I could assemble a near complete T206 fronts set inside of a few months [the Doyle variation would be the toughie but the rest is out there every auction season]. Other sets are even easier. But assembling a collection of drastic miscuts from the same sets, that's work.
![]() 2. The very drastic miscuts show something about the printing sheets, printing process, etc. ![]() ![]() 3. Except for the T206 miscusts, they can still be had very cheaply as compared to the same card without the cutting error. ![]() 4. I get the sense with the really bad ones that they were never really meant to go out in the first place. ![]()
