I almost bid on a few of his bats last week but looked at the bidding history on each item and said the hell with it.

But anyways, very nice bat!

This was an inside job (Net54).

The Big Bear had quite a run for the Tribe from 1951 through '54.

I think early on the seller -- or someone like him -- was bidding; low feedback, they had 100% bids with probstein, and they put in dozens of bids at $2 increments. But in the end it appears I went head-to-head with another bat guy.

Not pre-War, but a cool little "training" item for the kids. Love the box graphics.

Picked this broadside up at the Philly show last weekend, Colored All-Stars vs. White All-Stars.

Default Spooky stuff

I love this photo. I suppose it is a great example of early luxury boxes. I am curious what is Landis’ wife smelling? Emil Fuchs looks like a pompous ass. Landis looks self-righteous. Ruppert seems to be tickled with himself, and Bob Shawkey looks a wee bit mischievous. His wife at the far right is donning the same expression my wife has whenever we go to Safeco. The gentleman in the striped tie to the left of Ruppert is his good friend Colonel Fred Wattenburg. Despite dying in 1938 he remained in contact with Ruppert via the Ouija Board. In 1938 he communicated via that medium that Ruppert would join him in the afterlife soon. Ruppert a believer in the occult died almost a year to the date of that communication.
