No editing, they've used several generations of flips over the years. I forget offhand to which period this one conforms. I'm sure there must be a record of the flip generations around here somewhere, alas my food coma laziness prohibits me from searching at the moment...

Even the first generation had a barcode. I can't think of a single SGC flip that didn't have one. I checked the number and it didn't show up on SGC website either (but I have known of legit cards doing this before too). Also I have never known them to use two different fonts for the text. It doesn't make sense for the font for "1909" and "e90-1" to be different (the rest of each line is off too, but is very noticeable looking at the numbers).

There is a current thread about the labels. http://www.net54baseball.com/showthread.php?p=1210647
There is no mention of a generation where they went without the barcode.

I have seen several SGC cards with the two different fonts over the years; the second line in these rarer instances looks more compressed. As to the missing barcode, I can't imagine my scanner missing it, so it must not be there.

In any event, I am sure the card is legit and is a solid 20. If ever I am in the selling market, will be sure to have it updated.

Example of fonts:

I really am just curious because it just looked off to me because I don't recall the barcode missing on SGC. I did find the font compression on other slabs. I see this card sold through REA at one time and the barcode is missing on their scan so it isn't your scanner. I am just curious how long they made flips like that. Also it is the only flip I see while looking around where the card type text is justified to the "SGC" above it.

All good; I always find these random quirks fun to learn about myself. I'm sure someone around these parts can shed some light on such flips and their rarity.

Beautiful cards everyone...

Well, I didn't set a 2013 goal in that thread, but it was to make progress on my Jackie Robinson Bond Bread set, and to build my Jackie Robinson master set.

I did make progress on my BB set, and I had reached #2 on PSA registry's JR master set. I was also interviewed and had many of my cards featured in the Jackie Robinson SMR issue this year. I actually ended up selling most of my JR master set, as my wife and I are looking to purchase a home in the next year or so.

As for 2014, most of my money will be going towards inching closer to that 20% down payment, but for cards / memorabilia, here's the goal:

1) Complete the 1947 Jackie Robinson Bond Bread set (1 card to go)
2) Get into Pre-War by purchasing one of these cards: 1933 Goudey Lou Gehrig, t206 Cobb Bat Off, 3) Mathewson Dark Cap, Ruth E series (throwing).
3) Pick up a Jackie Robinson auto

I believe that 2015-2016 will be the year that I can really start expanding my collection.

My number one goal for 2014 is to get organized. This forum renewed my interest in my collection - especially The Monster Number thread. First time thru the boxes, I'm at 350/524, so my goal is get as deep into the 400's as possible - target 450. That will take some willing trade partners, but first I have to get organized and learn how to scan and upload cards to BST and PM's. Hopefully, one of the college educated tech-wizards that are hanging around here eating my food and drinking my booze will help.

The excel spreadsheet on the T206 Resource website is a huge help in organizing The Monster.

I would like to orchestrate a bulk trade of T205's and/or T207's for some T206's.

Cheers
