I was heavy into the '38 Goudey set for about ten years, completed it a number of different times and ways. It's my favorite set.
I don't think you'll have any issues related to scarcity in the lower grades. In the higher grades, the LOWER numbers are actually tougher (despite what hobby lore says). If you're trying to put together a "master" set, the #246 Lombardi variation (the one depicting him with the Reds, without the black baseball) is tough in any grade. Aside from that, you'll just have to deal with the expensive DiMaggios and the #288 Feller, which is a very popular card. Good luck, it's a great, great set. -Al |
