there seems to be a lot of minor variations on the backs of those e222's...handmade supposedly right?

Peter- No, not handmade (I don't think), but they were made by a company (Fulton Press) that was a printing company to start with. That might account for the wide variety of backs on a low number of cards. There was a great article done by a board member in an OldCardboard magazine several years ago. I think, but am not sure, I am only missing one back variety now. I will have to do some more research to verify it though. It's amazing the almost infinite number of ways to collect our little gems.

My Heritage pickup isn't a card, but I liked it nonetheless.
I added an Everett Scott signed baseball. The "Deacon" played 12 seasons from 1914-26 and served as captain of both the fabled New York Yankees, as well as the Boston Red Sox. He is a member of the Boston Red Sox Hall of Fame and played on 3 Red Sox World Series championship teams. He was also on the Yankees 1923 World Series winning team. Scott held the record for most consecutive games played until his steak was bested by the Iron Horse in 1933. . ![]() And on another panel, is some guy known as a singles hitter with a reputation for having a general surly attitude. I think his nickname is derived from a fruit or something like that. ![]() |

Nice pickups, guys!
That N43 Ewing is a work of art, Bryan. Nice to see you were able to get a couple of those signed beauties, Paul! |

I was forced to overpay for this one, but I couldn't pass it up. Fortunately, I already have Wheat and Crawford, or I would have had to cash in my 401K last night.

![]() ![]() Being serious, I truly congratulate you on this great pickup! I had a gut feeling you might be bidding on it, as I knew from my past research that you didn't have this back variety. FYI, I believe you now need 2 back varieties, same as me (not counting the A.W.A. back) - but, fortunately (for me!), we no longer need the same backs! The other good news for me is I know where to come after this Otey card, which I will do just as soon as I come up with a Niagara Baking card to trade you! ![]() And, yes, I still have the PSA 5 Hooker card with the red/rose colored back. At the risk being considered a show-off, here it is (sorry, but the only pic I have of it at this moment also has my other E222 with the same back design). Best, Val |

A great auction and I wanted a few other items, but prevailed on just this postcard - I really like it though so I'm happy!

Scott,
I've always liked that postcard. In case you care (and don't already know), there's also a version that has an ad on the front: ![]() Hope you enjoy that postcard. Rob |

Hey Rob, thanks for sharing your postcard. I'm trying to decipher the writing on the bottom - is that supposed to say "the 1905 Cleveland H.S. ball team"? Did the sender think this was a high school team? Or is the H.S. really something else? Interesting.
Either way - love your example as well! |
