Default Downgraded my 1951 Bowman Mays from PSA 6 to SGC 60

I realize nobody does this, but my wife won't put my 19 month old in child care and go back to work so I had to do it. Thanks Pete and you're welcome Ian!

This is probably the most significant pick up of my life, for reasons far beyond its razor corners, pearly white borders, and an incredibly bright/crisp image. Dan, your downgrade was my upgrade.. and for many reasons, this card will NEVER leave my possession. Thank you again Dan.

..... adding a pre-war pick up for thread compliance purposes psyched on Mr Feller too.

Brad-that first Cobb postcard might be my favorite pickup in this entire thread. As much as I love the Monster, I'm really getting into the postcards, too. Kudos on a beautiful addition to your collection.

Dan, that Mack is beautiful. Could you please tell me what set that is from? I can't judge the scale of the picture. Is that considered a cabinet card, or is it smaller?

Leon-I never get tired of looking at the Turkey Reds. Such a nice Cobb T3 you have there.

Ian-congrats on the Willie!!!!!!!!! I know you're on cloud nine right now.

Bill, it is a cabinet photo by Gray of Boston who took a lot of the photos in the N172 Old Judge set...in fact this image does appear in the N172 set. I have been scouring the internet trying to find another one, but can't seem to locate any.

Stunning OJs, the photo quality of your "small collection" is off the charts.

Dan B., love the Mack Studio Proof cabinet.

Thank you, Dan. That helps to connect some of the dots.

I think I mentioned on another thread that I've become a cycleback.com devotee. I bought David's book on authenticating pre-1930s baseball cards, and now I'm delving into his written work on early photographs. I find it adds a whole other level of enjoyment to my hobby. I feel strongly, too, that the knowledge I gain will enable me to foray into the "real photo" pre-1900 cards, as well as postcards and photographs.

My pleasure Ian! I will miss the card but am happy it found a good home. Thank you for sharing your amazingly positive news with me...it made my day along with my wife's!

Daryl,

Did your cards ever arrive?

Dan B., Great Gray cabinet of Mack. I'm going to start a thread about the Gray studio cabinets to get some more information on them.

Looking forward to it...there really is almost nothing on the net about the Gray cabinets...and I've been pilfering my basement the last three days in search of my Old Judge book to see if there is any info about them in there. Why did I pack that thing away???

Not yet. According to just_collect and the USPS, it could take up to two weeks because it was sent registered mail. It makes sense, but the USPS tracking site should indicate that.

Received the cards today. It was the first time I've done business with just_collect; they did an outstanding job in safely packing and shipping. I now know to be more patient with registered mail.
