1949 Bowman full-color uncut 4th series sheet. Very few SLATE cards have been found from this sheet. I show a Billy Johnson Slate card in Post #6.

Ted, thanks for all your help on the 1949 Bowman's!! I subbed a couple of slates (including the Doby rookie) to SGC in hopes that they will recognize the variation. They claim to have never seen them before, which I sort of find hard to believe, but oh well. Even if they just slab them as A's, I plan on putting the common on Ebay and will let you know when I do, if interested....

I have both SGC and PSA graded 1949 Bowman SLATE cards. So, I don't understand why they at SGC claim that...."they have never seen them before".

In fact, I have a Bob Muncrief SLATE card graded SGC 80.

I'd show you them, but my scanner is not operating now. As soon as I get it operational, I'll scan these 1949 Bowman SLATE cards and post them here.

Here are two SGC graded SLATE cards (both normally have YELLOW pastel backgrounds).

Note that the flip on the Salkeld card identifies "Gray Variation". So, SGC has some explaining to do to you.
