Default Awesome

I could watch that video a hundred times...what a spirit in that little guy! Some of the people I see get out of their car in the handicap spots could take a lesson from this kid. Just because you're lazy, doesn't mean you're handicapped.

I know that last statement will piss off some people, but I did 20 years in the military and I've seen my share of guys missing limbs from IEDs. I watched a group of about 30 soldiers come into camp one day, everyone of them missing a significant piece of their body. They went through the chow line with the rest of us, then sat down and ate their lunch like it was any other dude, any other day. They were on their way back up the road to Baghdad to get closure on where they were deprived of their mobility for the rest of their lives. It was the most emotional thing I've ever seen. My N54 handle, HercDriver, is because I flew C-130s (the Hercules) for 20 years in the Air Force. I retired a few years ago, flying AC-130 Gunships out of Hurlburt. A gunship pilot is a bit removed from the battlefield that those guys lived in, but served as their top cover. The gunships were targets, but a gunship crew expected they were going to get shot at when firing on the bad guys. Those guys on the ground would get it when they weren't expecting it...that's even worse. They were 24 hours on edge...I respect the hell out of every one of them. And I respect the hell out of this little guy as a catcher, but even more as a testament to the human spirit.

Take Care,
Geno
