I could of swarn that I saw re-makes (fakes) of these that were printed in 1983, but not exactly sure. I saw a few about 2 weeks ago on ebay, looked like this (not sure if it was exact) after some digging found was remade in 1983.

Here is a legitimate CYKO back...these came straight out of an unopened pack from 1916.

What does the front of those look like Dan? I have a canister of postcards that still have the paper wrapped around them. I was always curious as to what the front of them looked like.

They are blank on the front and appear to have developed because they were opened in light.

I have one other sealed package that I will not open, and I will never sell... for obvious reasons.

Would you trade the sealed package for some used PSA and SGC holders of high-dollar cards?

Throw in some 1970s Topps bubblegum and we got a deal.

Very interesting, Dan. This also shows us that if we pick up a questionable rppc with remains of another image, it is probably fake.

Jason - I knew you were not dis'ing me. But I cannot imagine saving fake. That would mean that I failed to return it to the culprit for a refund and that would be dumb.

I have lots of examples of REAL ones to compare against - no need for fakes

As Dan's old stock rppc paper shows, these came pre-cut from the factory. So another red flag on the Ruth postcard is the right edge, which appears to be hand-torn, with extra paper at the bottom right. In 20 years I don't think I've seen a real photo postcard (that measures full size) that has a torn edge/extra paper like that.

Ya the torn paper also made me think twice. The good thinng is I got a full refund without any hassle. Rick had no issue with me wanting to cancel the transaction and understood my concern. I did email him a few hours after asking him if I was to re-purchase and send it to sgc and it came back not authentic if he would give me a full refund, but he stated he was going to show it to sgc at the national and get their opinion. I know I made the right choice returning it especially after all of the info ive gotten from everybody. I do think that next time someone as reputable as probstein has something like this for sale again it should be authenticated first so there is no confusion.

Are you saying that all reputable sellers should have all of their items (or at least, all their postcards) authenticated before auctioning? I doubt many here would agree with you.

A better statement might be that all prospective bidders who can't tell if an item is real or not, and have more faith in TPA's opinions than in sellers', should only bid on slabbed items.
