It's not old, though it does look old. I had to buy one just to see them and for $7.95 I'm really happy with it, nice quality. Combo of a Buchner/Old Judge card. Compared to those Helmar cards, this was a steal! I wrote the seller with some player suggestions, so maybe I will get some of those rare Old Judge cards that are out of my price range and never show up anyway

I was just looking at that seller and his items a few days ago. I don't know that I would ever buy one, but they do look cool for the $7.95 starting bid. The seller originally came up for me in an "Ed Delahanty" search. Looking at the sold auctions, the cards do seem pretty popular. They seem like a neat item for players like Delahanty, who appear on no cheap cards dating to his playing career.

Now this is a great piece! I love these tailor ads. So far the best pickup in this thread IMO. I have the Matty Royal, it's truly spectacular.

Excited to add these to the collection. I think the blue text of the T-213's is aesthetically superior to the T-206's black font. And the Ewing/Mascot is, in my humble opinion, one of the most unique OJ's. Thanks to a board member for it!

great pick-ups so far this month!

This is my first "legit" Ruth card, although it certainly wouldn't classify as a "rookie card" as it was issued in 1920!!

I was looking at Ruth's stats today...how in the world did he leg out 16 triples in 1921?? Was the defense that shoddy, was he that fast, or were the parks that much larger? That season he had a whopping 44 doubles, 16 triples, AND 59 home runs to go with his 177 runs and 171 RBI's! It's amazing to think that he almost scored as many runs as he knocked in over his career...was it the product of a great lineup behind him or his blazing speed?? He did steal 17 bases that season. Just sayin'.

Ruth did have good speed when he was young. He only became the big-bellied slugger that most people are familiar with late in his career. He also played home games in the Polo Grounds, which had a massive centerfield. I think that in 1921 it was over 500 feet to dead center, and due to its unique configuration it was the widest centerfield ever.
I don't have a better way of describing the Polo Grounds. You should try to find a picture of it to really understand how unusual it was.
As for your card, what is up with Ruth throwing righthanded?

New to the forum, but I wanted to post a couple of my more recent pick ups to this thread. I sure enjoy seeing all of the various acquisitions that are posted so thank you. Mine obviously aren't great yard sale finds, unique oddities, or fresh back from grading, but I wanted to share them with the board members. A good chunk of you have already seen them, and even voiced your thoughts on one of them!
