"The Phantom was a beast!"

My favorite. A squadron of the F-4's was attached to the USS Forrestal when I was aboard 1961-1964. Watching them take off and land from high above on the conning tower was always a thrill. Never got tired to it.

Thanks to all who served especially my father-in-law Nick who served in WW2.

Here's a photo of Babe Ruth signing bats for soldiers while he was in the New York National Guard.

Each bat has a base's name on a tag telling you where it's going. There's also a box of 49 signed baseballs at the base of the bats.

I'm not sure how a Memorial Day thread isn't on the first page on Memorial Day, so let's revive it with a nice story...

http://now.msn.com/richard-arvine-ov...?ocid=ansnow11

Happy Memorial Day everyone and a big "THANK YOU" to our vets.

It's still Memorial Day in my time zone, so I'd like to take this moment to thank all active Military and all Veterans for serving this country. I would also like to pay my respects to all fallen soldiers of all wars, and also especially thank our wounded warriors for sacrificing so much. Never forget our POW's either. Thank you.

Sincerely, Clayton
